- 86 Regional Events were produced around the world in 2023
- 33 countries have active Regional Burning Man communities
- 18 countries outside the US hosted 32 official Regional Events
- 54 Regional Events were produced in the United States
SMALLEST EVENT: Melting Man, with fewer than 20 participants
LARGEST EVENT: AfrikaBurn, with an estimated 9,500 participants
BEYOND EVENTS, BURNERS IN THE REGIONAL NETWORK CREATE WONDROUS THINGS:
- Netherlands: Through their Art Jump program, Burning Man Netherlands offers a grant to help artists take their work on tour.
- Germany: Burner Embassy Berlin celebrated the fourth anniversary of their community space with a gathering.
- Colorado: The Temple of Tranquility in Boulder, Colorado invited locals to process collective trauma and grief.
- South Africa: AfrikaBurn’s Outreach funds teaching assistants at the local rural primary school and offers bursaries so learners can attend the closest high school.
25 YEARS OF THE REGIONAL NETWORK
The Regional Network has grown over 25 years into a complex ecosystem of communities. We marked this anniversary by launching the 25 to Thrive Project to consider the network’s evolution.
